THE NATIONAL BANK WARNS: BEWARE OF FRAUDSTERS!
How Does It Work?
First, a fraudster pretending to be a bank employee calls and claims there’s been a data breach or an unauthorized loan in your name.
Then, someone posing as an employee of the National Bank (or another state authority) joins the call and advises you to transfer your money to a “safe” account to “protect” your funds.
Scammers may use spoofed phone numbers and even send fake documents with official-looking seals and logos.
In reality, you are the one carrying out all the transfers and actions — following their instructions.
How to Protect Yourself
Hang up immediately if someone calls pretending to be from a bank or the National Bank and talks about data leaks or unauthorized loans.
Do not share personal or confidential data (e.g., tax ID, codes, PINs).
Do not enable screen sharing or follow instructions from unknown callers.
Avoid video calls from unknown numbers and never click on suspicious links.
If in doubt, call the official number of your bank directly.
Use only the numbers from the bank’s official website or mobile app.
Or visit the nearest branch in person.
Remember:
Banks and the National Bank will never call you about unauthorized loans or data breaches.
They do not send documents or employee IDs via messengers.
What to Do If You’ve Been Scammed
Immediately contact your bank to block your card or account.
File a report with law enforcement authorities as soon as possible.
⚠️ Stay Alert
Fraud schemes may vary, but the goal is always the same:
To deceive you into trusting the fraudster and transferring your money.
Once the funds are transferred — the scam is complete.
